The Quality Management Knowledge Area and the other NPMS (National Project Management System) knowledge areas have been updated to include the quality management perspective. The NPMS Area’s goal is to integrate the PMBOK knowledge areas into the NPMS framework via the core NPMS control point deliverables. It’s used in numerous kinds of operations, goods, and services.

Quality Management is the means through which the department guarantees that project delivery is repeatable and that its project management structure, policies, goals, standards, responsibilities, practices, and processes are continually improved. Quality management also enables firms to develop a service quality corporate culture, encouraging workers, suppliers, and partners to strive for and achieve high client satisfaction while also implementing a continuous improvement attitude.

The Quality Management Knowledge Areas

The fifth knowledge area in the PMBOK is Project Quality Management, and It comprises the information and processes needed to guarantee that the project produces high-quality goods and outputs. Although the best quality must always be the aim, it is not always the case.

Quality Management, according to PMBOK, is the definition of the Quality Assurance and Control process to verify that the project’s result meets the requirement for which it was designed. At the project level, the quality management process entails creating and executing policies, objectives, standards, responsibilities, and processes to guarantee that the project’s products and outputs fulfil quality standards. Both project outputs and project work procedures are covered by quality management. Plan Quality is the process of determining the projects and product quality needs and standards and demonstrating how the enterprise will demonstrate compliance.

Process Of Quality Management Knowledge

Within the quality management knowledge domain, there are three processes:

1. Planning

This step entails determining the quality standards that apply to the project’s deliverables and/or product and how the project will meet those criteria. Many projects include standards that are imposed on them directly, such as building design requirements. However, frequently more norms are not clearly specified but are expected to be followed. To secure a comprehensive set of standards, the project manager might acquire them from organizations. The major outcome of this process is a quality management plan that specifies the quality criteria to be reached and the quality assurance/quality control activities.

2. Maintain A High Level Of Quality

Managing quality is the process of assessing quality requirements and quality control measurement data to verify that the correct quality standards & operational definitions are implemented. The quality audits check to see if the system is working correctly and certifying. Continuous improvement should always be the cornerstone of quality assurance.

3. Control Quality

Quality Control is the process of tracking and measuring the outcomes of quality operations to evaluate performance and make required adjustments. Quality control collects data and conducts and implements quality measures. Project deliverables are monitored and verified to ensure that they satisfy quality requirements. In a nutshell, it’s the measuring of flaws.

Conclusion

Perform Quality Assurance seems to be the process of auditing quality requirements and quality control measurement data to ensure that quality standards and operational definitions are being followed. Perform Quality Control is the practice of tracking and recording quality operations’ outcomes to evaluate performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
